Licence to Malta Credit Bureau Limited to operate as a Credit Reference Agency
On 2 August 2023, the Commerce Department's Trade Licencing Unit, in consultation with the Central Bank of Malta (the 'Bank'), granted Malta Credit Bureau Limited (C 99566) a five year renewable licence to operate as a credit reference agency (CRA). The function of a CRA is primarily to issue credit scores on natural and legal persons, including credit institutions. In line with article 47(B)(3) of the Trade Licensing Act (Cap 441) - Trade Licences Regulation, (S.L. 441.07), the CBM Act (Chapter 204 of the Laws of Malta), and CBM Directive No. 15, the Bank is responsible for the supervision of CRAs.
