Central Credit Register
What is the Central Credit Register (CCR or 'The Register')?
Central Bank of Malta (CBM) Directive No. 14 obliges CCR reporting institutions as defined in the Directive to provide information on any existing client who has an end-of-month balance of exposures exceeding €5,000.
This non-anonymised information on borrowers and their credit exposures is securely stored in the CBM's Register. Borrowers comprise both legal and natural persons but exclude credit institutions. The reporting institutions are required to provide this information to the CBM by the twentieth calendar day of the month following the month to which the balances refer.
How do you access information about yourself on the Register?
There are two ways in which you may request access to an extract of your information: (1) by filling an online form or (2) by sending a request via registered mail. See further information below. The CBM acknowledges receipt in writing by the following working day. If an acknowledgment is not received, kindly call the CBM's Credit Register Office on (+356) 2550 4414 during office hours.
The request must be submitted by the natural or legal person, or by their lawful representative.
