The Bank’s Business Conditions Index indicates that in November, annual growth in business activity rose slightly above its long-term average estimated since January 2000.

Central Bank of Malta Governor, Professor Edward Scicluna, addressed the London financial community including members of the academia in a Distinguished Speakers Luncheon Seminar in London. The seminar, which was attended by over 80 participants, was organised by the European Economics and Financial Centre of the University of London on 15 June 2022.

In line with its continuous effort to promote and uphold its commitment to foster an inclusive and equal workplace, the Central Bank of Malta, together with the European Central Bank and another 25 National Central Banks and Competent Authorities, has officially signed the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Charter.

The Central Bank of Malta (Bank) launched the update of its Corporate Strategic Plan during a virtual event for all staff members on 14 March 2022. During this event staff members were addressed by the Governor Edward Scicluna, Deputy Governors Alexander Demarco and Oliver Bonello, and the Chief Operating Officer Daniele Romano.

The Central Bank of Malta (Bank) expects Malta’s gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 6.0% in 2022, by 5.3% in 2023 and by 3.8% in 2024.
