European Money Week - School children visit the Central Bank of Malta

Over seventy school children from private, church and government schools recently toured the Central Bank of Malta at Castille Place, Valletta. The tour formed part of the European Money Week activities organised by the Malta Bankers' Association. These activities included a series of events, both at national and European levels, aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of financial literacy from an early age, and the need of improving financial education for students from junior and secondary schools.

During this educational visit, the children had the opportunity to view one of the largest selection of numismatic coins and banknotes on the island which are exhibited in the Bank's Foyer. The tour was followed by a presentation and a discussion on the Central Bank of Malta's role and functions.
