New euro coin set dated 2014

On 3 June 2014, the Central Bank of Malta will issue a new euro coin set dated 2014. The set incorporates the eight Maltese euro coins as well as a €2 coin, commemorating the 1964 Independence Constitution which was adopted in September of that year when Malta acquired its independence from Britain and became a sovereign state. The €2 coin is the fourth in a series of five coins featuring milestones in Malta's constitutional history. The set also includes a replica coin from the Arab period. All coins were struck at the Royal Dutch Mint. The euro coins were designed by Noel Galea Bason while the €2 commemorative coin was designed by Ġanni Bonnici.

The set of coins is packed in a distinctive presentation box. The minting limit is established at 25,000 sets. These may be purchased from the Malta Coins Distribution Centre at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta, or by completing the order form which can be downloaded from the Bank's website.

For further information, the public is kindly requested to contact the Malta Coins Distribution Centre through an e-mail or by calling (+356) 2550 6008.
