Central Bank of Malta staff members join forces for voluntary work at Dar Sagra Familja in Zabbar

On Saturday 23 March 2013, a group of employees from the Central Bank of Malta participated in a charity event at Dar Sagra Familja in Zabbar. The Bank volunteers helped in a range of renovations and other manual work at the children’s home, which currently hosts 13 youngsters.

The initiative was coordinated by the Central Bank of Malta’s Social Committee in collaboration with Sister Denise of Dar Sagra Familja. Over 35 staff members, coming from different departments and across all grades, formed teams which carried out painting, plastering and gardening works. The main kitchen and dining rooms were redecorated, while two bathrooms were plastered and repainted. The teams also renovated internal doors and re-landscaped the gardens. Materials and other related accessories used in the initiative were donated by the Bank.

The objective of the event was to improve the quality of life at Dar Sagra Familja, as part of the Bank’s social commitment. The contribution of the various team efforts was highly praised by Sister Denise, as well as by the Central Bank of Malta’s Governors who appreciated the generous commitment of the Bank’s staff involved. They also affirmed the Bank’s continued support for such initiatives.

This staff activity is part of a holistic social responsibility programme supported by the Central Bank of Malta, which includes regular blood donation activities and donations to charitable institutions, amongst others.
