Victor Busuttil was appointed as Member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Malta for a period of five years with effect from 1 January 2013, having occupied the same position for the period 2008-2012. He holds a B.A. (Hons) and an M.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Political Science.
Mr Busuttil is a former United Nations official with thirty four years' experience at Geneva and New York. He served the larger part of his career at the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), where he held senior diplomatic positions notably as Director for Management and Chief, Programme Planning and Assessment and oversaw UNCTAD's related external relations, representing the institution in various fora in particular, the UN General Assembly's expert committees, UNCTAD's own intergovernmental bodies, UN High Level Committee on Management, and UNCTAD/WTO International Trade Centre. He served the earlier part of his career as an official in the Department of Management at UN Headquarters, New York.
