Public Consultation on the amendments to the Central Bank of Malta Act and Directive No 15 on ‘Supervision of Credit Reference Agencies’
A public consultation, commencing on Monday 21 January 2019 till Monday 4 February 2019, is being launched by the Central Bank of Malta ('the Bank') on the amendments affected to the Central Bank of Malta Act (Cap. 204 of the Laws of Malta) and the new Central Bank of Malta Directive No 15 on 'Supervision of Credit Reference Agencies' ('the Directive'). The main amendments affected will appoint the Bank as the supervisory authority of licensed credit reference agencies and place the Bank, as a regulatory authority, in a better position to oversee and regulate the provisions of payment services in Malta.
The Public Consultation document including the proposed amendments to the Act and the new Directive can be accessed here.
During this consultation period, interested parties are invited to comment on the affected amendments made to the Act and the new Directive, by not later than Monday 4 February (c.o.b.). The Bank will give due consideration to all the comments submitted and feedback received during the public consultation exercise.
