Notte Bianca at the Central Bank of Malta

The Central Bank of Malta will participate in this year's edition of Notte Bianca to be held in Valletta on the 5 October 2024.

At the Bank's Currency Museum in Castille, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a splendid selection of coins and banknotes, showcasing the rich history of currency. A counterfeit expert will also be present to provide valuable insights on detecting fraudulent money, and orders for exclusive coins will be available.

Members of the Canine Search and Rescue team, a Maltese organisation training people and canines to provide humanitarian support in cases of disasters, will showcase and demonstrate their equipment and canines, briefing visitors about their humanitarian cause and initiatives.

The exhibition: Coinage in Malta: 2,500 years of history will be displayed at Polverista, the former gunpowder building and chapel. There will also be an interesting presentation on the functions of the Bank that will be delivered by a staff member, followed by an open discussion where participants are encouraged to share insights and ask questions.

The upper and lower gardens will open exclusively for the night, offering a variety of attractions for guests to enjoy in a unique and enchanting setting.

In collaboration with the Customs Department, Żekkin the famous Labrador sponsored by the Bank, will demonstrate how money-related crime is detected. Żekkin and smart sniffer-dogs, will be active in simulation exercises at the Upper Garden.

A beautiful bonsai exhibition will be presented, in collaboration with the Bonsai Culture Group. Grow10Trees will showcase a seed display, a number of saplings and will be sharing seeds. Additionally contemporary live music will be played by an international band at the lower gardens of the Bank.
