How often have we heard explanations on works of art and artistic processes heralding phrases on the lines of 'the social determination of art, or 'the artistic representation of reality'? Probably, quite often.
These, however, are just but two vague statements that social scientist and lecturer, Dr Valerie Visanich shall address, redefine and, ultimately, present alternatives to engaging with Pasmore's artistic output through an analysis of the socio-economic and cultural conditions, particularly prevalent during his time in Malta in the latter half of the twentieth century. Throughout the lecture, Dr Visanich shall also introduce the socio-personal relations that interlaced throughout every aspect of Pasmore's life and career, particularly the instrumental role and presence of his wife and muse, Wendy Blood.
The lecture is free of charge. Entrance to the gallery is through Ġlormu Cassar street (the road leading up to Castille Square). For more information, kindly get in touch via email.
