Dr Kalina Koleva is the Manager of the International Relations Office at Central Bank of Malta. She oversees the Bank's relations with international economic and financial institutions of which Malta is a member. Her office also advises the Ministry for Finance on selected issues related to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. She is a member of the International Relations Committee and the Sub Committee on International Monetary Fund related issues. Dr Koleva holds a PhD from the University of Paris 1, Sorbonne. Her published research prior to joining the Bank focused on the economic theories of taxation, optimal tax administration, fiscal compliance and the coercive nature of taxation, tax system efficiency costs etc. Her present field of research centres on international relations and the analysis of international trade, free trade agreements, geopolitics, strategic trade partnerships and their implications on global trade flows, energy and supply considerations etc.
